I went to check in on our veggie garden this morning and was surprised to see quite a number of bees swarming around our compost bin.
Lizard sunbaking
Well, the lizards are out and that is a sure sign that spring is here. It is known as the Common or Eastern Water Skink.

Captured this moment as a visitor to Singapore gazed upon the shophouses in Chinatown. The camera preset was incorrect, yet, i like this picture as her upward look seems to express wonder.

Colour, crowds and movement at the Sydney Vivid Festival 2013. Lights shows and illuminations light up the city of Sydney, the Opera House & other venues around the harbour.

The Southern Cross is one of the first constellations learnt by children in Australia. If you can find the Southern Cross then you know your are looking towards the south.
Bulli Beach
The rock platform at Bulli Point features some remarkable colours and formations. I shall allow the photographs to speak for themselves.
Malay wedding in Singapore
Every time I play these clips the music simply entrances me. The repetitive percussion and the rise and fall of the rhythm and the crescendos that writhe around you are just mesmerising.
Mount Keira Ring Track
Darcy Moore and I went for a walk around Mount Keira yesterday. Mount Keira, with an elevation of about 470 metres, dominates the escarpment west of the city of Wollongong.
Rainbow Lorikeets
There were a few Rainbow Lorikeets in our garden this afternoon. I was photographing the sky at the time & managed to take two photographs of the birds as well.
September Sunset
Yet another beautiful sunset. I went outside to unwind and an array of clouds in the western sky bore the promise of a glowing sunset.
Seen at dusk
Love looking at the sky. There is always something happening and I am yet to see a repeat. Back in May, Venus was quite bright in the western sky following sunset.
Riding by lake and shore
Bike riding around Lake Illawarra and along the coast down to Barrack Point. Incredible scenery, a peaceful cycle path and plenty of flora and fauna. Recommended to all cyclists with an interest in photography.

Zendags go north
Went for a ride with my friend Evan along the cycle track that follows the coast from North Wollongong through to Sandon Point and beyond. It was a perfect afternoon and the cycle track was not too crowded.
The skies inspire
During this Autumn the skies over the Illawarra have been impressive, particularly at sunset. The moon has been a part of these evening performances as well.
Waxing lunar
A few weeks back I was capturing the clouds as sunset progressed and I made a few attempts to photograph the moon through the thin evening clouds. A few of the photographs are in the gallery below.
Sky on fire

Zendogs ride in Malaysia
A couple of Sundays back I went for a bike ride with a group of friends in Johor, Malaysia. We rode from Pengerang to Sungei Rengit. We rode through small kampongs, past the homes, gardens and local makan places. No rush, no traffic, no hustle, no bustle.
On ya bike!
Bought a new bike. It is a Giant Cross City hybrid bike. Basically a flat bar road bike. Recent bike riding experiences in Singapore and Malaysia convinced me it was time to purchase a new bike.

I think I know how Singaporeans must feel as the places they know well are torn down and swallowed up in the name of progress. Their kampongs, favourite eating places, schools and homes.

Design in Asia
These icons of design and similar are appealing to me because they are aesthetically simple and clean. The design is uncluttered.
Sentinel cat
This cat sits diligently outside its owners store in Zhinan Road, Taipei in the Wenshan District. It will not be moved. Nearby dogs disturb it not.

A couple of weeks ago Shao Ping and I attended a wedding in Cairns, Queensland. We stayed for four days and we took the opportunity to visit the Great Barrier Reef.
David Bowie Live 1978
Recently I had been part of an online conversation regarding David Bowie’s first concert tour of Australia back in 1978. Bootleg tapes of his performances in Brisbane, Perth and his final show in Sydney have eluded collectors.
Singapore Cirrus
The blue was deep and the cirrus clouds overhead gave things perspective. I stopped outside Red Hill MRT, grabbed my camera and took four photographs.

Tiong Bahru is an area of Singapore that I had not explored before. I had been to the shopping plaza adjacent to the MRT station. This time I ventured further afield.
A cat called Sootie
A sunny afternoon. A warm place. A cat. Good weather. Was preceded by a week or two of cold, wet weather. Sootie enjoyed sun. Exploring, basking, relaxing, sleeping, cleaning.
Calm Seas All At Peace
The crystal clear skies, the deep blue ocean and the gently breaking waves. A surfer and a fisherman. Peace and calm prevail. A contrast with the storms of yesterday.
Big Seas Big Waves
The Illawarra Coastline experienced a great deal of rain this week. The storms were due to a low pressure system generating big swells & big waves captured by me on camera.
Halo
Managed to photograph a halo around the sun today with the help of a balustrade and a tree trunk.
Royal National Park
Shao Ping and I went for a drive to the Royal National Park, located between the Illawarra to the south and Sydney to the north. We also dropped by Bundeena and Port Hacking.
Illawarra floods 1998
Back in August 1998 the Illawarra region experienced an intense storm system. It was the 17th August 1998. The city centre of Wollongong received 316mm of rain in 24 hours.
Joyous colours overhead
About midday thin icy clouds began to float by the sun and an array of colours began to appear as the sunlight passed through the ice crystals.
Autumn
The weather is nice today. It is Saturday, May 14th. The south coast of NSW, Australia. It is autumn and winter is nearing. I took some photographs.

Melbourne sojourn
Melbourne is an interesting city. Shao Ping and I just spent 4 days there. Tourists we were and also observers of the human condition.
