I like to photograph water. Our swimming pool has a couple of water jets that can be adjusted to direct water flow within the pool. I like to adjust the jets so that the water flows upwards to the surface. The motion of the water as it reaches the surface is fascinating to observe.
The water erupts randomly as it breaks the surface yet there is a pattern among the chaos as well. I set up my camera by the pool and carefully set the focus on the point on the surface where the water burst forth. I captured a number of shots, adjusting the speed of the shutter and the aperture.
I was both pleased and surprised with the results. The camera was able to capture that which escaped the human eye. Those fleeting moments. It was like looking at the surface of another planet. There were mountains, plains, valleys and distant plains. There were also distorted faces rising from the water.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing these shots. I keep going back and looking at that third one…spectacular! It is interesting to see the zoom aspect. So many people stand back and get the obvious. Again, really enjoyed this post!

Thank you Linda. I like to capture those moments and to share with people how to see what I see. I am in the process of setting up a gallery for this site but I have bumped into a snag with some code. Working on it with some help from the theme developer. Stay posted.
I have just added your blog to my Educators list in Google Reader. Congratulations on the award Linda!
Cheers, John.
