Mudskippers in Singapore A mudskipper is an unusual fish well adapted to life in the mangrove ecosystem. You can find mudskippers at Sungei Buloh Nature Park, Singapore. This image was taken at Pasir Ris in the north east of Singapore. A mudskipper is a fish that can actually live out of water. Like most fish the mudskipper can obtain oxygen through its gills while it is underwater. When the mudskipper is on land, however, it gulps in air which is filtered through water stored in its mouth and gill chambers. The mudskipper can also breathe through its moistened skin. |
